What is Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that uses silicone gel or saline breast implants to enhance the size and shape of your breasts.
Women with small breasts or breasts that have naturally lost volume often feel unattractive, less feminine, and self-conscious. Enlarging and reshaping the bust helps many women feel more confident and comfortable in their bodies.
Assoc. Dr. Fatih Irmak is a double board certified aesthetic, plastic and reconstructive (FEBOPRAS) surgeon performs breast augmentation procedures to meet the needs of women who desires to have natural and attractive breasts and help women feeling more comfortable and confident in their bodies.
For some women, this is achieved by creating a sexier physique, and for others, it is achieved by restoring a more youthful look. Breast augmentation provides a long-term solution to poorly proportioned breasts by increasing breast size and correcting breast shape.

Silicone Implant Options
Assoc. Dr. Fatih IRMAK prefers Mentor® brands MemoryShape and MemoryGel products depending on the patients needs, both have FDA-approved.
There are different shapes and surface textures of breast implants used during breast augmentation. The most commonly used implants have a smooth surface and a round shape.
Especially since most breast implants are placed in a subpectoral (under the muscle) location during a breast augmentation, round, smooth implants are preferred.
There are also different “profiles” of implants such as high profile and moderate profile breast implants.
Breast Augmentation Procedure
During the procedure, the surgeon makes a small incision in each breast area in order to insert the implants. Assoc. Dr. Fatih Irmak will make every effort to place the incision in a way that minimizes any resulting scars. Once the incision is made, your surgeon lifts the breast tissue and skin to create a pocket to hold the implant. The pocket will be either directly behind your breast tissue or beneath your chest wall muscle. Dr. Irmak prefers dual plane breastenlargement surgery that implant placing under the breast tissue in lower part of breast and under the muscle in upper part of breast.
The incisions are closed and may be taped to add support. A special surgical bra placed over the breasts keeps them in the best position for healing.

What to expect after breast augmentation surgery?
You will need an adult to drive you your place and stay with you for at least 24 hours after surgery. Your breasts will be wrapped in a snug bra and possibly an ACE wrap to reduce swelling. It is normal to experience chest tightness immediately after surgery. You should take the prescribed pain medication and muscle relaxants as needed.
You will be given detailed post-operative instructions regarding recovery and post-op activities. Most breast augmentation patients feel pretty good a day or 2 after surgery, and most patients return to non-strenuous work within a few days.
Another Choice: Breast Enlargement with Fat Transfer
An increasingly popular option for breast enlargement is using fat taken from other areas of the body to enlarge the breasts. Double Board Certified Aesthetics, Plastics and Reconstructive Sergeon Assoc. Dr. Fatih Irmak expertise in this fat transfer technique offers his patients a soft, natural alternative to breast implants.
The procedure, sometimes called fat grafting, is a 3-step process completed during a single operation that takes up to 2 hours. Fat transfer breast augmentation includes:
- Liposuction to collect the fat from another area
- Purifying the fat
- Injection into the breasts
Doç. Dr. Fatih Irmak use liposuction technique called VASERlipo™ that is ideal for harvesting fat in grafting procedures. Doctor will use a microcannula – a specialized instrument – to perform dozens of tiny injections, layering the fat so that the results look beautifully natural.
A good candidate for this natural approach to breast augmentation desires a modest increase in the size of her breasts. A patient who wants to increase from an A cup to a B cup would benefit from the fat transfer technique. Patients who want a larger boost are better candidates for implants or serial fat grafting procedures. The best way to know if fat grafting is a good approach for you is to consult with your surgeon.
Patients recovering after fat transfer breast augmentation experience some discomfort in the area of the body where the liposuction is performed. Otherwise, the recovery is generally quite comfortable, and most patients return to work or their regular activities within a few days.
