Another issue to be considered is the breast tissue of the person. Since the prosthesis we will use in women with more breast tissue will be easily covered with breast tissue, the possibility of the prosthesis being felt and visible from the outside will be low. However, if a woman with small breasts is augmented with a large prosthesis, the prosthesis is likely to be both felt and visible from the outside.

Another issue to be considered is the width of the person's rib cage. Whether the rib cage is wide, narrow or inverted-extroverted in shape also affects the size and shape of the prosthesis to be selected.

Breast prosthesis is placed in four different planes in the breast;

The plan to place the prosthesis varies in each patient. For example, in a woman with insufficient breast tissue, it may not be the right choice to place the breast prosthesis under the breast gland, or in active athletes who use the chest muscle, the plan under the muscle may not be a suitable area.

Postoperative period:

The operation usually does not exceed 1-2 hours, and discharge is usually the next day, provided that the patient rests for the first few days. The rate of complaints may vary depending on the surgical technique and placement of the prosthesis. For example, in prostheses placed under the muscle, there may be mild pain with arm movements for the first few days. Showering is allowed the day after surgery. Thin, water and heat-resistant tapes usually remain for 10-14 days. An underwire sports bra helps to shape the breast, so it is beneficial to use it in the postoperative period. Stitches do not need to be removed, swimming is allowed after 3-4 weeks.

Weight bearing should be restricted for the first 1 month. Tennis and heavy sports should be avoided for the first 6 weeks.

Problems that can be seen after surgery:

Although these problems are unlikely to occur in planned and careful surgeries, they are complications that can be seen in general:

• Capsular contracture that can be seen months to years later: The capsule around the prosthesis hardens and tries to displace the prosthesis.
• Infection
• Marked or increased asymmetry.
